Position Title:  Appraiser

Population is 26,014 with 11,000 parcels and a large commercial-industrial base. This position appraises the market value of real property in the City for the purpose of establishing a uniform and equalized base for property taxation according to Minnesota statues. Requires Certified Minnesota Assessor designation and license from the Minnesota statutes.

Position Title:  Property Appraiser I/II

Salary Range:  $15.92- $27.65/hour
Washington County is accepting applications for the position of Property Appraiser I or Property Appraiser II. The primary job duties will be to estimate market value and set classifications on residential real estate for tax purposes.
Desirable Qualifications: In order of priority, list the desirable skills, experience, license, certification and/or education/training for this vacancy. This information is used to develop the Training and Experience rating points which determine your eligibility list for the vacancy.
Qualifications for Property Appraiser I: High school graduate or equivalent and one year of full-time experience in an assessing office or real estate related field. Two-years of post-secondary education in real estate, business or related field or successful completion of one (1) course toward certification to be licensed as a Minnesota Assessor may substitute the one year of experience requirement.
Qualifications for Property Appraiser II: Requires being licensed as a Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA) or a minimum of two years of experience performing appraisals as a State Licensed Residential Appraiser and successful completion of Course A - Assessment Laws, History and Procedures through the MAAO (Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers).
Desirable experience beyond the minimum requirements: The training and experience rating will be based on the following desired experience: 1.) College degree in real estate with appraisal emphasis, or degree in related field. 2.) One (1) year experience as an appraiser for ad valorem tax purposes. 3.) Three (3) years work experience performing appraisals as a State Licensed Residential Appraiser.

Position Title:  County Assessor

Salary Range:  $2,115.20 - 2,802.40/Bi-Weekly (26 pay periods)

Nobles County is currently accepting applications for the County Assessor. The Assessor is responsible for the day to day activities of the Assessors Office including property values, classifications and taxes for Nobles County.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Vocational/technical diploma or Associates degree in Real Estate, Administration, Accounting, or related field required, with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Supervisory experience preferred. Must possess current certification as an accredited assessor by the MN State Board of Assessors and meet the requirements for achieving Senior Accreditation as set forth in MN Statute 273.061. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

DUTIES & RESONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to; supervising staff, directing workers engaged in assessing, devises procedures for compiling, computing and analyzing valuation data, maintains all residential, commercial, industrial property and farm land at current fair value, maintains departmental budget, prepares various reports, documents, studies, etc.
