2010 Ethics for MN Assessors - Mankato, July 21, 2010

Wed Jul 21, 2010 8:30 AM

 Ethics for Minnesota Assessors
For the July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2012 Licensing Period

The Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Revenue, is pleased to announce the schedule for “Ethics for Minnesota Assessors.”  This course is required for all Minnesota Assessors licensed for at least one year in the four-year licensing period.

Most newly-licensed CMAs will meet this requirement as part of the weeklong Assessment Laws and Procedures (ALP) course. Existing AMA’s and SAMA’s (who were licensed at that level on July 1, 2008) will meet this requirement when they complete the PACE course later in this licensing period.

These stand alone offerings are designed for existing CMAs and newly-licensed AMA’s and SAMA’s who will not have completed the ALP or PACE courses between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2012.

This four-hour course has been updated and emphasizes professional conduct and standardized assessment practices within an ethical context.  Numerous case studies, scenarios, and discussion points have been added to allow for the participants to think through the dilemmas presented and relate them to their own professional and personal lives.  Instead of teaching “what not to do,” this course should help assessors think about “what to do.”

The stand alone offerings will be held in each MAAO region twice before the end of the licensing period, provided there is sufficient demand. There should be a location close to every county, so watch for additional information in the near future.

Instructors:  Minnesota Department of Revenue staff

Course Fee:  $50 for any session. The cost will be the same for all sessions.

Important note: This course relies heavily on discussion and participation, therefore class size minimums and maximums will be enforced.
Class size is limited to 50 people. Sessions may be cancelled if less than 20 people are registered.
