Welcome to MAAO’s web site!Bill Effertz

Congratulations newly elected MAAO President William Effertz!

MAAO is a non-profit organization in Minnesota consisting of assessors and other interested parties. The primary functions of MAAO are to provide excellent educational opportunities to assessors, work with the legislature and the Department of Revenue on property tax legislation and to provide relevant information to assessors through our quarterly publication Equal Eyes.

This website has been developed to assist with the organization’s goals. Members can register for  classes, seminars and conferences on the website.  There is also a membership directory that can be used to contact other members. The site also includes a job listing service that allows members to view current openings in the assessment community.

MAAO is made up of many committees. Currently over 100 of our members are associated with a committee. It is through these committees that the work of the association is carried out. Members are always encouraged to get involved through these committees. Regional meeting throughout the state are held monthly to assist in a consistent assessment administration.

MAAO is always interested in new members. I encourage all assessors in Minnesota to consider membership in this vibrant association. Anyone who has questions can always contact me at 612-348-3388 or at president@mnmaao.org.

Attention:

IAAO Sales Verification and Foreclosure Exposure Draft(excerpt taken from IAAO website) “IAAO Sales Verification & Foreclosure” (by the IAAO Research Committee) is a draft foreclosure outline being driven by recent large increases in foreclosures. The outline will be used as a guide for IAAO to develop a Standard on Sales Verification. Along with previous and current research it will potentially be used to update the 2003 Standard on Automated Valuation Models (AVMs), expand the current IAAO Standard on Ratio Studies (2008), and serve as a guide for future texts on appraisal and assessment administration. It will also be used by IAAO staff to respond to member and public requests for a description of IAAO’s position on foreclosures and foreclosure-related sales. Green Acres Position Statement - The MAAO Legislative Committee was asked by the Executive Board to draft a document outlining the main concerns of assessors related to the 2008 Green Acre Legislation and provide options to address these issues.  This document represents the official position of MAAO.
