About Us

The Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers serves as the Minnesota chapter affiliate of IAAO. We are a nonprofit, educational and professional organization dedicated to the improvement of ad valorem assessment administration in Minnesota. MAAO has been supporting quality assessments since 1949 and assists assessors in becoming informed of the latest developments in the assessment and appraisal professions by sponsoring educational courses, promoting professional designations, awarding scholarships, and monitoring legislative issues.

Our Mission

The Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers supports and elevates its members through education, ethical leadership, and connection—advancing fair and trusted property assessment across Minnesota.

Our Vision

We envision a statewide community of empowered assessing professionals who lead with integrity, collaboration, and excellence—earning public trust and strengthening Minnesota’s property tax system.
