Scholarships

As an organization that promotes education, MAAO offers the Family Member Scholarship as an opportunity to give back to the membership and is funded by member donations. The MAAO member must be a Regular member and have a child, step-child or grandchild attending a 2 or 4 year college or technical school. Two $1,000 scholarships are issued per year.

To promote interest in our profession, MAAO is proud to offer the Week Long Courses Scholarship for courses required to obtain the CMA (Certified Minnesota Assessor) license. Applicants cannot be employed in a permanent capacity in an Assessor’s Office (or equivalent) and cannot be eligible for reimbursement of expenses by an employer.

Two scholarships per course offering are available to cover the course registration fee and any books or course materials.

Eligibility Requirements Document

In 1998, MAAO established an educational scholarship in memory of Dan Franklin, who served diligently on the MAAO Education Committee and was an advocate for Assessor education and professionalism. Applicants must be taking 10 or more college credits (or High School seniors who have been accepted and will be attending college for the Fall Semester). This scholarship is open to all majors, but the applicant must be able to demonstrate their interest in Real
Estate or Appraisal related careers and preference will be given to Real Estate Appraisal related majors. One $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually.
