NEW! - MAAO Residential Assessing 101

Wednesday, October 21 - Thursday, October 22, 2020

8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Waite Park, MN

Registration is closed.

Description:  Developed and instructed by the MAAO Residential Committee and the MAAO Curriculum and Standards Committee.  Residential Assessing 101 is a 15 hour, 2-day course.
This elective course is for assessors that are new to the field. This course will help new assessors be efficient, educated, and more knowledgeable in the assessing and housing industry. Topics that will be covered include quintile inspections, accessory structures and dwelling units, modular/manufactured home construction, fee appraisals and appeals, residential construction and grading the house. Safety will be discussed as well. Participation and discussion is encouraged in the class. At the end of the class, an exam will follow.

NOTE: While MAAO does not monitor the experience level of course registrants, it is VERY important to note that this course has been developed with the new, inexperienced appraiser in mind. It is highly recommended that course registrants are not seasoned appraisers but rather newer appraisers.

Credits: Residential Assessing 101 is a 15 hour, 2-day course with 14 hours of instruction and a 1 hour exam.  This course has been approved by the State Board of Assessors for 15 hours of continuing education. To use this course as one of the two 15-hour elective courses required for AMA licensure, you must take the exam.  You do not need to take the exam if you only need CEH's, but you will only receive 14 hours.

COVID-19 Considerations: MAAO has made accommodations to ensure proper social distancing at this course and adhere to the Governor’s orders of not exceeding 25% meeting room capacity, by moving to a larger venue with a larger meeting room, allowing each attendee their own table . Other adjustments, such as catering considerations, sanitizing stations, and the strongly recommended use of face masks except when seated during course instruction will provide as safe of a learning environment as possible. We have talked in detail with the event venue and feel confident that every reasonable precaution is being taken for attendees' health and safety.
