Description: Assessment Laws and Procedures is an introductory 28-hour course deali ng with the assessment field in Minnesota. Participants will learn about p roperty tax laws in Minnesota, real estate law and assessment procedures. It includes 3-hour Ethics that satisfies licensing requirements. This cour se is designed for individuals who are just beginning their study of the as sessment field, but also can serve as a review for persons currently workin g in assessment. This is a required course for the Certified Minnesota Ass essor level of licensure. This course is approved by the Minnesota State B oard of Assessor’s for 28 hours of continuing education, 30 hours with exam . Note: This class will be a 4-day format. The exam will be on Thursday afternoon.< /span> Class size limit of 48 students.
COVID -19 Considerations: MAAO has worked with the event venue for this offering to ensure proper social distancing, adherence to the Governor’s or ders of not exceeding 25% meeting room capacity for events, and COVID-19 ca tering accommodations. Additionally, sanitizing stations will be provided, face masks will be required at all times, no-contact forehead temperatures will be taken at the beginning of each day, and there will be no passing of paperwork throughout the class. We have talked in detail with the event ve nue and feel confident that every reasonable precaution is being taken for attendees' health and safety. This offering is subject to cancellation if mandated by the Governor. A 100% refund will be processed for any registra nt due to a Covid-related cancellation. Student Expectat
ions: This course includes 28 hours of classroom instruction durin
g which students will be expected to participate in discussions, group acti
vities, and coursework that may include but is not limited to reading, home
work, problem solving, etc. both during and outside classroom hours. There
is also an exam at the end of the course the student should plan to review
for. If alternative testing options are required please contact the Educa
tion Coordinator by email as soon as possible to discuss and we will attemp
t to make reasonable accommodations.
