Description: Assessment Laws and Procedures is an introductory 28-hour course dealing wi th the assessment field in Minnesota. Participants will learn about proper ty tax laws in Minnesota, real estate law and assessment procedures. This c ourse is designed for individuals who are just beginning their study of the assessment field but also can serve as a review for persons currently work ing in assessment. This is a required course for the Certified Minnesota As sessor level of licensure. This course is approved by the Minnesota State B oard of Assessors for 28 hours of continuing education, 30 hours with exam. Note: This class will b e a 4-day format. The exam will ONLY be available online. Course participan ts will receive links to take the exam independently online on Thursday or Friday following the course. Class size limit of 4 8 students.

Student Expectations: < /strong>This course includes 28 hours of classroom instruction during which students will be expected to participate in discussions, group activities, and coursework that may include but is not limited to reading, homework, p roblem solving, etc. both during and outside classroom hours. There is als o an independently taken online proctored exam at the end of the course the student should plan to review for. If alternative testing options are req uired, please contact educ ationcoordinator@mnmaao.org via email as soon as possible to discuss, a nd we will attempt to make reasonable accommodations.

Cancellat ion Policy: Cancellation requests received prior to 8:00am five b usiness days prior to the start of the course will be issued a refund, less a $30 administration fee. Cancellation requests received after this time o r registrants who fail to attend the course are responsible for the entire fee. If a registrant is unable to attend the event, a substitute from the jurisdiction that paid the registration fee can attend at no additional cha rge. Please send written notification of this change or cancellation reques ts to educationcoordinator @mnmaao.org. Although it is not the policy of MAAO to cancel a course o r seminar, MAAO reserves the right to do so and provide a full refund if th e minimum enrollment level is not reached. Refunds will be issued within 30 days of the date of the course or conference.
