Description: Assessment Laws and Procedures is an introductory 28-hour course dealing with the assessment field in Minnesota. Participants will learn ab out property tax laws in Minnesota, real estate law and assessment procedur es. This course is designed for individuals who are just beginning their st udy of the assessment field but also can serve as a review for persons curr ently working in assessment. This is a required course for the Certified Mi nnesota Assessor level of licensure. This course is approved by the Minneso ta State Board of Assessors for 28 hours of continuing education, 30 hours with exam. Note: This class will be a 4-day format. The exam will ONLY be available online. Course participants will receive links to t ake the exam independently online on Thursday or Friday following the cours e. Class size limit of 48 students.

Student Expectations: This course includes 28 hours of classroom instruction during which studen ts will be expected to participate in discussions, group activities, and co ursework that may include but is not limited to reading, homework, problem solving, etc. both during and outside classroom hours. There is also an in dependently taken online proctored exam at the end of the course the studen t should plan to review for. If alternative testing options are required, please contact educationco ordinator@mnmaao.org via email as soon as possible to discuss, and we w ill attempt to make reasonable accommodations.

Cancellation Po licy: Cancellation requests received prior to 8:00 AM Central Tim e five business days prior to the start of the course will be issued a refu nd less a $30 administration fee. Cancellation requests received after this time or registrants who fail to attend the course are responsible for the entire fee. If a registrant is unable to attend the event, a substitute fro m the jurisdiction that paid the registration fee can attend at no addition al charge. Written change notifications and/or cancellation requests must b e sent via email to educat ioncoordinator@mnmaao.org. Although it is not the policy of MAAO to can cel a course or seminar, MAAO reserves the right to do so and provide a ful l refund if the minimum enrollment level is not reached.
