Description: Developed and instructed by the MAAO Residential Committee and the MAAO Curriculum and Standards Committee, Residential Assessing 101 is a 15 hour, 2-day course. This elective course is for assessors new to the field. This course will help new assessors be efficient, educated, and more knowledgeable in the assessing and housing industry. Topics covered include quintile inspections, accessory structures and dwelling units, modular/manufactured home construction, fee appraisals and appeals, residential construction and grading the house. Safety will be discussed as well. Participation and discussion are encouraged in the class. At the end of the class, an exam will follow.
NOTE: While MAAO does not monitor the experience level of course registrants, it is VERY important to note that this course has been developed with the new, inexperienced appraiser in mind. It is highly recommended that course registrants are not seasoned appraisers but rather newer appraisers.
